Browning's X-Bolt Speed is a bolt-action rifle, and this new example is chambered in 6.8 Western with a 20-inch barrel. The receiver and barrel are finished in smoked bronze and the stock is Browning's Ovix camo pattern. It is sold new from the supplier's Dallas location. UPC 023614853763.

A bolt-action centerfire is legal for deer and bear across Pennsylvania during the regular firearms season, Nov. 28 through Dec. 13, and the bear season that opens Nov. 21, so this X-Bolt is a straightforward choice for either. The 20-inch barrel keeps the rifle short for the laurel thickets and steep hollows of the northern tier, and 6.8 Western carries enough energy for bear at the ranges those woods allow. Hunters in the Special Regulations Area counties around Philadelphia and Pittsburgh should check the digest first, because rifles are restricted there.
