This L.C. Smith Ideal Grade is a 1920s-era 12-gauge ejector gun with 30-inch barrels choked Full and Full, serial FWE26869. The bores are excellent. The barrels keep about 95 percent of their original blue, the frame holds 95 percent vivid case colors, and the figured walnut stocks are very good with some marks and wear. Length of pull is 15.25 inches over a recoil pad. The supplier calls it a fine example in very good overall condition.
This is a double for a tall shooter, and the 15.25-inch pull over a pad is the first thing to check against your own measurements. Full and Full chokes on 30-inch tubes point to long shots at passing birds or the trap line rather than close work. Pennsylvania does allow manual shotguns with single-projectile loads for deer, but a tightly choked century-old double with this much case color is one most owners will keep for birds and clays. Confirm your local rules in the digest if you hunt a Special Regulations Area county.
