The Zastava ZPAP M70 is a semi-automatic AK-style rifle in 7.62x39mm built on a stamped steel receiver with a long-stroke gas piston. This version wears fixed Serbian red wood furniture, a 16.3-inch steel barrel with a threaded muzzle and factory slant brake, adjustable iron sights and a right-side lever safety. It weighs 7.9 pounds, measures 35 inches overall and ships with one 30-round AK-pattern magazine for 30+1.

Pennsylvania hunters should know up front that semiautomatic rifles are not legal for deer, bear or elk here, so the M70 is a range and recreational rifle in this state, not a November deer gun. On that footing it makes sense: 7.62x39mm is widely available, recoil is manageable in a near-eight-pound rifle, the long-stroke piston is a rugged and reliable system, and the red wood stock and handguard give it a distinctive classic look.
