This is an early Colt 3rd Model Thuer Derringer, listed in used condition, with the features collectors look for on the first production: the so-called pregnant frame, a tight curl and a high hammer. The barrel address has gone faint but the early marking can still be read. The barrel has been cleaned and shows light pitting in spots, the frame is very good with no real scratches or marks, and the grips have been refinished yet fit well.

The numbering is the odd part. Serial 135 sits under the barrel, a 33 is stamped on the flat of the frame, and there is no number under the grips, where one would normally be found; the frame may simply have left the factory unnumbered, and the 33 could be an assembly number. Apart from the grips the gun is unaltered. For a Pennsylvania collector of Colt pocket pistols it is a sharp early example rather than a shooter.
