The Smith & Wesson Model 986 is a Performance Center double-action revolver chambered in 9mm, and this example carries the 2.5-inch barrel. The cylinder is unfluted titanium and holds seven rounds. The bore is excellent, the finish and grips are near excellent, and the overall condition is excellent. The original box is included. Serial number DZC6783, sold from the supplier's Dallas location.

A 9mm revolver makes sense for a Pennsylvania household that already keeps a 9mm pistol, because one box of ammunition feeds both. The short barrel and titanium cylinder keep the weight down for carry, while seven rounds is one more than most compact revolvers hold. For home defense it offers the simple manual of arms of a double-action revolver with the cartridge most people already practice with.
